Tennessee Valley Healthcare System

Accreditation and Achievements

Tennessee Valley Healthcare System has received a number of accreditations and awards. Some of our recent notable accomplishments include:

Fisher House

TVHS was recently selected as one of the top ten facilities to be recommended for a Fisher House.

Planning is already underway and the expected construction date to be 2008-2009. Fisher Houses are designed to be homes away from homes, providing a comfortable environment where families can come together to provide support to one another. VA Fisher Houses are typically 7,800 to 10,000 square foot homes with eleven to 21 bedrooms. Each House is professionally furnished and decorated in the style of the local region. They feature private suites with private baths and common areas, including kitchens, laundry facilities, dining rooms, living rooms and libraries. Fisher Houses are constructed by the Fisher House Foundation on government land (military bases or VA medical center grounds). Upon completion, VA Fisher Houses are donated to the Department of Veterans Affairs. VA then assumes responsibility for operation, maintenance and upkeep, including staff.

VA/DoD Sharing Agreement

TVHS and Ft. Campbell have implemented a medical resources sharing agreement under which TVHS will provide mental health professionals to assist Ft. Campbell staff with the screening and treatment of 101st Airborne returnees from the Iraqi combat theatre. The total number of returnees scheduled to arrive back at Ft. Campbell this year is roughly 23,000.
