Feds Feed Families Campaign

Feds Feed Families Campaign

TVHS Assistant Chief of Human Resources, John Henderson, presents a Certificate of Commendation to AFGE Local 1844 President, Carolyn Goodman for their support in the 2013 Feds Feed Families Campaign.

Monday, September 23, 2013

In 2013, AFGE Local 1844, Alvin C. York Campus Union Officers challenged AFGE Local 2400, Nashville Campus Union Officers to see who could give the most amongst their respective teams.  AFGE 1844 successfully earned the "Braggin' Rights Award" by donating over 2,000 lbs of food.  AFGE Local 2400 Union Officers donated over 1,000 lbs of food.  Between the two AFGE Locals, their officer’s contributions made up over 40% of all food donated by Tennessee Valley.  Mr. BR Hardison, AFGE Local 2400 President has agreed to continue the challenge in the 2014 Feds Feed Families Campaign.  This year TVHS as a whole raised 6,994 pounds of food for local food banks.  Wait till Next YEAR!!

Since the campaign began five years ago, federal workers have donated and collected 15.2 million pounds of food and other non-perishable items to support families across America. Last year alone, we collected more than 7.2 million pounds of food -- but with over 50 million Americans living in food insecure households, we need your help again this year.
